jpnn.comJAKARTA – PSSI’s decision to temporarily postpone the BRI Liga 1 2023/2024 season starting from week 31 received various responses.
Persebaya Surabaya boss Azrul Ananda assessed this decision because PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir is currently serious and enthusiastic about bringing the Indonesian National Team to a level that has never been achieved so far.
The decision to temporarily postpone League 1, which still leaves four matches remaining for each club, was taken because a number of players from League 1 clubs were called up to strengthen the U-23 national team. They will enter national training from 1 to 11 April 2024. In preparation for the U-23 Asian Cup which will be held from 15 April to 3 May 2023 in Qatar.
Meanwhile, the club also needs its mainstay players who have been called up by the National Team to navigate the remainder of the League One season.
There are clubs that are struggling to qualify for the top four, improve their rankings, and most importantly, are fighting to escape the relegation zone.
“We now feel like we have a national team that is enthusiastic, which feels like it is getting better step by step,” said Azrul.
Furthermore, Azrul revealed that both Erick Thohir and STY were under pressure to improve the national team’s achievements.
“In this month of Ramadan, everyone is under pressure. Bang Erick is enthusiastic, serious, taking our national team to a level that has never been reached. I always say that having a football club is like being a department or service for public happiness. Well “Brother Erick is like the head of the ministry of social happiness throughout Indonesia. Bang Erick is under pressure to provide the best for the happiness of the Indonesian football community,” said Azrul.
Azrul Ananda, as Persebaya boss, believes that PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir is enthusiastic about bringing the national team to a level that has never been achieved.
