The war is present. With the Ukraine front underway and the State of Israel’s ongoing murderous onslaught in the Middle East (Gaza and Lebanon), the possibility of a new generalized world showdown is getting closer and closer. In this landscape, the scientific research and technology development (R&D) play a key role in strengthening the war industry. A new era of totalitarianism is emerging, where everyday devices are transformed into means of control and surveillance and potentially into tools of war. The most dystopian scenarios are becoming reality, with the peoples of the world themselves who, instead of seeing their lives improve thanks to technological progress, are being bombarded for the profits of the few.

In this context, we will try to deal with questions such as the following:

>> How the funding flow is guided and its direction researchs through organizations such as NATO and the European Union?

>> What is the role of Greek universities and research centers in this system, and through which programs are they involved?

>> Why, after all, research today, instead of being oriented towards socially beneficial and peaceful innovations, is it increasingly being used for military purposes?
