Chatthar: Farmers are suffering due to non-functioning of farmers market in Vembakottai.
The farmers market is non-functional on the Sivakasi – Kalgukumalai road in Vembakottai. Here, facilities were provided for the farmers to sell their produce directly to the public.
Over time, these farmers’ markets became inactive. Currently, farmers’ markets are nominally functioning only in major cities. Farmers market in Vembakkottai panchayat was not functioning from the day it was opened. The building constructed for this purpose is currently damaged and dilapidated.
Vembakkottai is an area full of villages and there is a lot of agriculture going on here. Farmers market should be brought back into operation here as it has been divided into a separate taluk.
