Brasilia: Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in at least 18 places in the northeastern part of Brazil following heavy rains for two weeks. About 280 people were injured. The situation was exacerbated when two dams in the city of Bahia collapsed and flooded. About 35,000 people were evacuated to safer areas. Forty cities were affected by the floods, Governor Rui Costa told reporters. Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in at least two places.
