Founding a party? These are the people Amichai Shikli addressed

MK Amichai Shikli, although sitting on the mandate standard of the Yemina party, has not really belonged to the party for more than half a year. Shikli, who was brought to the list by Naftali Bennett, voted against the formation of the Bennett-Lapid government, and in fact was the only MK on the right who came out against the formation of the government.

Now that his status is unclear and the party can declare him a rebel at any given moment, he is economizing his political steps and debating between forming a new party and joining the Likud.

In an interview to be published tomorrow in the newspaper “Israel Hayom”, Shikli says that he would like to design a list of strong, professional, dominant figures with a clear opinion as well as right-wing and national figures.

For example, Shikli sent a message to Dr. Sharon Elrai Price that he was happy to meet her, but did not receive an answer. Another name he turned to was former basketball player Omri Caspi, who replied that he was busy investing in sports and did not want to get into politics. Also belongs to Mish Atid MK.

The person who has already responded in the affirmative to joining Shikli’s party, if it arises, is the social activist Yosef Haddad, CEO of the “Together – Arabs for Each Other” organization, which works to connect the Arab and Jewish sectors.

Shikli’s other option is to join the Likud list. He accepts Netanyahu as the leader of the national camp, but if Netanyahu leaves – the cards will be shuffled. In his view, the Likud has become a party shaped by Netanyahu. The day after, it is not certain that it will remain a stable and strong movement that revolves around the 30 seats.

Also, Shikli is not at all sure he would like to serve under Israel Katz, Yuli Edelstein or Nir Barkat. As part of the chatter of the polls in the Knesset corridors, he saw polls in which he is stronger than those claiming the crown in the Likud. And such a possibility requires thought. It is worth noting that if Shikli is indeed declared a rebel, he will not be able to join the Likud or any party that exists in the current Knesset.
