Freeths & Vortex Cheer: Real Estate Law Support for New Facility

Vortex Cheer Expands, Honoring Legacy with New Southport Facility

A Southport cheerleading and dance school, Vortex Cheer, has officially opened its doors at a new premises in AK Business Park, a milestone made possible by the generous support of Elsie’s Story and the pro bono legal expertise of Freeths.

The opening represents more than just a physical expansion for Vortex Cheer; it’s a testament to community resilience and a poignant tribute to a young life lost. Elsie’s Story, a charity established in memory of Elsie, a victim of the tragic attacks in Southport earlier this year, provided crucial funding for essential equipment and safety mats. Simultaneously, the law firm Freeths navigated the complexities of securing a lease, enabling Vortex Cheer to broaden its reach and continue serving children and young people in the local area.

A Community United in Support

The connection between Vortex Cheer and Elsie’s Story is deeply personal. Elsie herself was a member of the cheerleading school, imbuing the project with a particularly meaningful resonance. The charity’s donation directly addressed critical needs, allowing Vortex Cheer to create a dedicated space for its athletes.

“It’s been a great privilege to help Vortex Cheer secure their new home,” stated a representative from Freeths. “Their work brings joy and confidence to young people, and supporting them, alongside Elsie’s Story, felt like a meaningful way to give back to the community.”

Freeths Real Estate Director Mark Alexander played a pivotal role in the lease negotiations, offering his expertise to facilitate the school’s growth. His initial connection with Vortex Cheer occurred during a summer color run benefiting Elsie’s Story, where he pledged his support for securing a permanent home for the organization.

Transforming Opportunities for Young Athletes

The impact of the new facility is already being felt by Vortex Cheer’s athletes. Aime Cruickshank, Head Coach and Owner of Vortex Cheer, expressed profound gratitude for the support received. “Thank you doesn’t quite cover how grateful we are for the support from Freeths and Elsie’s Story. Without it, we would still be limited to shared facilities, with equipment in storage and no space the girls could truly call their own.”

The expanded space has dramatically altered the training experience. Cruickshank explained that some athletes are now able to utilize the facility five days a week, fostering a consistent and supportive environment. “Having our own home has completely changed things. It has given them a safe, happy place where they can grow in confidence, make memories and feel part of something special.”

Honoring Elsie’s Legacy

Beyond the practical benefits, the new facility serves as a lasting memorial to Elsie. Vortex Cheer is committed to honoring her memory within the walls of their new home, a sentiment deeply felt by everyone involved. “We’re also proud to be honouring Elsie’s legacy in our new home, which means so much to everyone at Vortex.”

This project underscores Freeths’ dedication to pro bono work and community engagement, with teams across the firm consistently providing free legal counsel to charities, social enterprises, and local initiatives. By ensuring access to legal support, Freeths empowers organizations dedicated to positive change.

The opening of Vortex Cheer’s new facility is a powerful example of how community collaboration can transform lives and create a lasting legacy of hope and resilience.
