The subject was debated up to the top of the State: should we ban gas boilers for the benefit of more ecological heat pumps? To achieve carbon neutrality and reduce dependence on imported gas, the executive had for a time considered prohibiting the installation of new gas boilers for individuals… before reversing course. Gas is in fact the primary means of heating for the French: 11.9 million homes are equipped with a gas boiler, or 41% of the total stock. Failing to ban this type of heating, the executive promises to strengthen aid linked to the installation of heat pumps.
