Golikova named the regions with the highest herd immunity

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that the level of herd immunity in Russia has reached 61.8%. She noted that the situation with the incidence over the past week has worsened in 7 regions of Russia, and improved – in 13. At the same time, in some regions, the level of herd immunity has reached 80%. Earlier, President Vladimir Putin said that it is necessary to reach the level of 90%.

“The heat map of the stopcoronavirus.ru portal, which provides a comprehensive assessment of the situation, shows that the situation has improved in 13 regions, and deterioration is noted in 7 regions, primarily due to a decrease in testing coverage,” Ms. Golikova told reporters (quoted by TASS ).

She noted four leading regions where the herd immunity level exceeded 80%. These are Sevastopol (90.2%), St. Petersburg (80.9%), Chukotka (80.7%) and Karelia (80.4%).

Today the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said that the “arrival” of the omicron strain in Russia is inevitable, but it should be done so that it does not turn out to be critical for the health care system. She said that 103 cases of infection with the new strain have already been identified in the country.
