Washington – The US has clarified its position on the BBC’s controversial documentary on the Gujarat riots and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I don’t know much about the documentary you are talking about. But there is a good understanding of the values that India and the US share as two vibrant and thriving democracies,” US State Department spokesman Ned Price said.
There are many political, economic and people-to-people factors that underpin the strategic relationship between the US and India. In response to questions from journalists, Ned Price said that values common to both democracies are valued. The US has expressed its position in the controversial situation of blocking the screening of the BBC documentary in India.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also distanced himself from questions about the documentary. Sunak said that such portrayal of Modi is unacceptable. The documentary was aired by the BBC as a two-part series. The assessment of the Ministry of External Affairs is that the preparation of the documentary is biased.
