As part of the measures implemented within the framework of the Summer 2024 Plan, the Government of El Salvador has deployed an extensive security operation throughout the national territory, with the aim of protecting the Salvadoran population and foreign visitors during the summer vacation period. Easter week.

Since early this Tuesday, the institutions of the National Civil Protection System, in coordination with the Land Traffic Division of the National Civil Police (PNC), the Anti-Doping Medical Unit of the Vice Ministry of Transportation and the Solidarity Fund for Health (Fosalud ), have established various vehicle control and anti-doping devices at strategic points on the country’s roads.

The head of the Vice Ministry of Transportation, Nelson Reyes, personally supervised one of these controls in the vicinity of Ceiba de Guadalupe, in San Salvador, and highlighted the increase in the number of people detained compared to previous years. Reyes reported that, so far this year, there has been a 48% increase in the number of detainees, and during the Easter period of the previous year, this increase was 135%. This is attributed to the increase in the number of vehicle checks implemented this year, which double those carried out last year.

The official highlighted the commitment of the Government of President Nayib Bukele to road safety and the prevention of accidents on the roads, urging the population to respect traffic regulations and adopt responsible behaviors that contribute to maintaining low levels of accidents during this holiday period. .
