The Minister in charge of Territorial Administration, Emile Zerbo, installed the governor of the region, Ram Joseph Kafando, on Thursday March 7, 2024 in Fada N’Gourma. He replaces Colonel Hubert Yaméogo in this position, who is eligible for retirement.

Appointed by the Council of Ministers at its meeting of February 14, 2024, the Civil Administrator, Ram Joseph Kafando, was officially installed governor of the Eastern region and therefore, president of the Special Regional Delegation.
The Minister in charge of Territorial Administration, Emile Zerbo, invited the new governor not to lose sight of the objectives set out by the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré who has great hope for this part of Burkina Faso to boost development in our country.
« The governor must aim to achieve the primary objective assigned to the region which is to make it a dynamic framework serving economic development and therefore the well-being of those administered. », Supported Minister Zerbo, before adding that the governor will also have to work to ensure the security of people, property and institutions.

The Minister also underlined the border nature of the region with Niger, Benin and Togo, hence for Governor Kafando, to work to strengthen good neighborly relations with the border localities of these neighboring countries and to the strengthening of border cooperation.
The new governor of the Eastern region said he was aware of the heaviness of the responsibility and the immensity of the task assigned to him today in a difficult security context. To succeed in his mission, Ram Joseph Kafando indicated that he will need the advice, support and accompaniment of all the active forces in the region whose frank collaboration is essential to him.
Colonel Hubert Yaméogo expressed his thanks for the good and loyal service during his rich career and for having worked selflessly in the conduct of administrative, social and security affairs in this region.
