Gujarat Titans make unexpected move ahead of IPL mini-auction

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction approaches, Gujarat Titans captain and all-rounder Hardik Pandya has made an unexpected move by returning to his old home ground, Mumbai Indians, through a trading deal between the teams.

The IPL mini-auction will take place in Dubai on the 19th of this month, and the Titans have also omitted eight players from their squad, including Shivam Mavi, Yash Dayal, Pradeep Sangwan, Alsari Joseph, and Odion Smith, among others. The exclusion of these players, coupled with Hardik Pandya’s unexpected move, has created a big gap in the team.

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has suggested that Afghan pacer Azmatullah Omarzai should be included in the team to fill the gap left by Hardik Pandya. “Azmatullah is expected to go to Gujarat Titans as he is absolutely fit. Rashid Khan is there and it will help to bring out the best from his teammate. Apart from an all-rounder, the team also needs a proper fast bowler. They have enough money in hand,” Pathan said.

In response to the changes in the team, Gujarat Titans have announced opener Shubman Gill as the new captain, replacing Hardik Pandya. The team currently has Rs 38.15 crore in their purse, which they can use to acquire a maximum of eight players in the auction. The team also has two foreign players in their squad.

The unexpected move of Hardik Pandya and the exclusion of several players from the team have created a stir ahead of the IPL mini-auction, leaving fans and experts eager to see how the Titans will reshape their squad for the upcoming season.
