Full exploitation of the Middle Corridor will ensure further growth of Sino-Azerbaijani trade.
As Day.Az reported on Thursday, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev said this in an interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN).
“Economic and trade relations are developing between the two countries. The connecting component is also crucial in trade and economic relations. The full commissioning of the Middle Corridor will ensure the further growth of Chinese-Azerbaijani trade,” he said.
Hajiyev noted that one of the challenges is that the Middle Corridor passes through the territories of many countries.
“Here we work very hard and closely with our Kazakh friends. In such a project, which takes place across the territories of different countries, the possibility of a “one window” is crucial, especially for Chinese companies that would like to redirect their freight traffic to the European market. We We are already working with Kazakhstan, Georgia and would like to involve our Chinese friends,” he noted.
Hajiyev added that simplification and standardization of customs rules are also important.
“We have also taken note of the recent agreement on the Middle Corridor signed between China and Kazakhstan. We are also thinking about signing such an agreement. Perhaps we will be able to sign a trilateral agreement between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and China in this area. We look forward to the development of concepts China + Central Asia and China + Central Asia + Azerbaijan,” he said.
