Twenty-seven billion euros is the historic amount of French arms export sales in 2022, indicates a report to Parliament. That’s more than double the previous year. Exports driven above all by sales of Rafale combat aircraft. Like this one, which we could see and hear at the Paris Air Show this year.

Just last year the Dassault group has sold 80 in the United Arab Emirates. Indonesia and Greece have also ordered 12 in all. And the order book continued to fill this year since theIndia just this month gave its agreement in principle to the purchase of 26 other aircraft from the French manufacturer.

To a lesser extent, Paris also exported observation satellites (to Poland) and defense frigates last year. France remains the third largest arms dealer in the world behind the United States and Russia. Globally, military spending has increased by more than 30% in the space of ten years.
