On June 22, 1941, Germany invaded the Soviet Union. Hitler breaks the non-aggression pact with Stalin and unleashes a war of extermination against Slavs and Jews. He wants to create “living space in the East” – in the largest country in the world. What drives Hitler? Megalomania, racial hatred, military foresight? How can he win his generals over to his plan? The weather, the resistance of the Red Army and the USA’s entry into the war pushed the Wehrmacht onto the defensive on the Eastern Front until 1943.
