Thalapathy Vijay entered the silver screen as a child artist and became one of the top heroes of Tamil cinema. He took a fee of Rs 275 crore for the latest movie ‘Thalapati 69’. At the height of his career, the actor formed a political party called ‘Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam’.
Thalapati Vijay announced to join politics about 8 months ago. Vijay was seen for the first time in a public meeting of his party. The star actor attended the party convention in Vikrabandi town of Tamil Nadu on Sunday (October 27).
The Free Press Journal reported in a report that 300,000 people attended Vijay’s political rally yesterday.
Vijay said in the public meeting, ‘I am at the peak of my career. I throw it away, throw away my pay. I have come to you as your victory. I am putting all my trust in you.’
Referring to his thoughts before joining politics, Vijay said, ‘I used to think why politics? But isn’t it selfish to think only of yourself?’
The fans made him a superstar. Recalling that, Vijay said, ‘First they told me, I don’t look good. Then said, my personality is not good. Then they shamed my style, my hair, my walk. But at that time your love kept me going. That love and faith has brought me to politics today.’
Vijay is currently preparing for the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Besides, he is continuing the shooting of the movie ‘Thalapati 69’.
Thalapati Vijay’s father’s name is SA Chandrasekhar. He was a Tamil film director. Mother Shobha Chandrasekhar was a singer. Vijay made his name in acting as a child artist at the age of 10.
