I was trapped by my television image

Yannis Bezos sat on the sofa of “Studio 4” today and talked about theater and acting and answers the criticisms made about him.

The guest of the show “Studio 4” on ERT was Mr Yannis Bezos at noon on Thursday (14/03).

The well-known actor, on the occasion of the show “Mysterious Variations” in which he stars, spoke about the show, while when asked if the sold out adds extra stress and pressure to the actors, Yiannis Bezos commented, among other things, that “theater and acting it’s a mess, don’t listen to the facile criticism from various know-it-alls, I, who have been doing this job for 45 years, know nothing! I try every time and every day you discover something that the author himself may not have discovered.”

Then he talked about her review but also how he manages it himself, making a comparison with the reviews that were written in the past.

“If you look at old reviews, I was writing monsters and for big hits. For example, when Axion Esti by Theodorakis was performed or when Ornithes by Karolos Koon was performed, you will die laughing. This is because there are sympathies, empathies… just as there are very good reviews of things that have not been touched by time at all. All this lacks seriousness”, said Yannis Bezos initially, adding that he does not follow the reviews.

Anyone can write whatever they want. I am referring to the viewers. I don’t care what anyone writes, it’s their right, just like mine to take it seriously. But I have to take it very seriously when I go on stage or screen, that’s my responsibility.”

Giannis Bezos admitted that he is very strict, especially with himself but also with his colleagues, while to a question about whether he has been misunderstood because of this, he answered positively and commented that it is fortunate that he was misunderstood since, as he said, he is authentically strict.

“I’m not a jerk, I’m a normal strict person. That is, I am demanding primarily from myself and secondarily from the partners, because we refer to the public. From the moment the viewer brings us his living wage to the theater, I am very, very responsible for what we will present”, he explained.

Finally, in a mood for self-criticism, he referred to his professional failures, taking full responsibility for them when they happen, while he admitted that his television image trapped him and hurt him in the theater, especially at the beginning of his career.
