Greece and Turkey will sign a “Declaration on Friendly Relations and Neighborhood” on December 7, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced, adding that the document is scheduled to be signed in Athens after the session of the Supreme Council of Cooperation.
Erdogan made the announcement before his upcoming visit to Athens. He expressed the opinion that Greece and Turkey have recently shown a will to develop cooperation.
“That common intention will be enshrined in the Declaration on Friendly Relations and Neighborliness, which we hope to sign on December 7 in Athens,” Erdogan said.
He also stated that he intends to tell Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis that Turkey does not consider Greece an enemy.
“I will tell him like this: Kyriakos, my friend, we will not threaten you if you do not threaten us. Let’s strengthen the trust between our countries, let’s expand bilateral cooperation in all fields, let’s show mutual care and concern for the historical and cultural heritage of our countries,” Erdogan said.
