Delhi: CBI arrests former ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar and husband Deepak Kochhar.
India’s largest private bank, ICICI Chanda Kochhar was the Chief Executive Officer of the bank. During Chanda Kochhar’s tenure as Chief Executive Officer, Videocon Group was involved in abuse of power and a loan of Rs 3,250 crore was given to Videocon Group in breach of norms. By this, it was alleged that her husband Deepak Kochhar was benefited. ICICI Bank started an investigation in this regard in May 2018. Chanda Kochhar was ordered to be dismissed after the allegations were confirmed.
Chanda and her husband, business magnate Deepak Kochhar and others have been booked by the CBI in connection with this corruption. And the enforcement department is investigating and registering the case. The Enforcement Directorate has already frozen assets worth Rs 78 crore in possession of Chanda and Deepak in this matter.
Meanwhile, CBI has arrested both Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar in this case. Both have been arrested in Delhi. While summons were sent to appear for the investigation of the case, the interrogation of the two was going on at the CBI headquarters. However, initial information has come out that both have been arrested after they did not cooperate with the investigation team.
