Thiruvananthapuram: Rehana Mariam Noor will be the inaugural film of the film festival, which tells the story of the life struggle of a teacher at a private medical college in Bangladesh. The film unfolds as Rehana witnesses an unexpected event and fights for justice for her six-year-old daughter and a college student. The film will be screened on the opening night at the Nishagandhi Auditorium in Kanakkunnu.

The film is directed by Abdullah Mohammad Sad. The film will be screened in India for the first time.

Meanwhile, preparations are complete for the International Film Festival which will start the next day. The main venue this time too is the Vazhuthacaud Tagore Theater. The 26th Film Festival, which will be held from 18 to 25, will feature 173 films in seven categories across 15 theaters.

For the first time since the Kovid crisis, the festival will be open to all moviegoers.

The fair includes seven packages, including an international competition category, a world cinema category featuring the latest films of world-renowned directors, Indian Cinema Now, Malayalam Cinema Today, a retrieval of classics and a tribute to Nedumudi Venu.

Meanwhile, the online reservation for the film festival will start on Friday. Delegates can make reservations by logging on to the festival’s official website, www.iffk.in, or by downloading the IFFK app from the Play Store. Pictures must be booked at least 24 hours in advance.

Reservations will be made from 8 am until the seats are completed. Seats must be booked using the registration number, password and movie code.
Reservations are allowed at all theaters except Nishagandhi Open Theater.
