Tirupur: 30 cents of land has been allotted in the premises of I.K.F. to set up an Integrated Knitwear Export Development Centre.

The plan to set up an integrated knitwear export development center at Tirupur was announced in the Tamil Nadu government budget. The Chief Minister had announced that a fund of Rs 10 crore would be allocated for this. The preliminary works for the same have started and are going on.

As for the banyan industry, it operates in a chain-like system; Knitwear and readymade garments are not manufactured within the same premises. ‘Knitting’ converting fiber into fabric, dyeing mills, ‘compacting’ correcting shrinkage in dyed fabrics.

In order to make winter clothes, ‘rising’, cutting, multi-colour printing, computer embroidery, and after the garment design, checking, ironing, packing, etc. are carried out.

10 Crore fund…

The government has announced that a public service center will be set up to give full training to banyan workers in banyan production. An integrated knitwear export development center is to be set up with a fund of 10 crore rupees allocated by the Tamil Nadu government.

Tirupur Exporters Association President Subramanian said:

An Integrated Knitwear Export Development Service Center is to be set up to facilitate the visit of Banyan traders and government representatives coming to Tirupur and to provide training to the workers. For that, 30 cents of land has been allocated. The Center will be run by the Exporters Association.

We have applied for necessary approvals to set up banyan manufacturing units with dyeing facility. Once approvals are received, including building permits, construction will begin. We are planning to set up Tirupur Kumaran Banyan Public Service Centre. Thus, he said.
