Imran Khan ordered to appear in court

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has ordered Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan to appear in court on Wednesday, the 31st.

A three-judge bench yesterday considered whether Imran Khan had made comments in contempt of court. The judges ordered him to appear directly and give an explanation.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani government said it had sought legal advice on taking action against Imran Khan.

Imran Khan was booked yesterday under the Anti-Terrorism Act for threatening government officials.

Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan addressed a public meeting in Islamabad last Saturday. At that time, he said that he was going to file a case against the police and the judge regarding the arrest of his assistant.

Pakistan has been in political turmoil since Imran Khan was ousted in a no-confidence motion in April.

He is pressuring the government to hold fresh elections.
