Kolkata: The 3-0 win over India vs New Zealand in the T20 series marks the beginning of the Rohit Sharma-Rahul Dravid era in Indian cricket. It was the maiden series between Rohit as the full-time T20 captain and Dravid as the coach. Former cricketer and cricket observer Aakash Chopra has praised Rohit Sharma for winning the series.

Aakash Chopra tweeted that very few captains understand the pulse of cricket better than Rohit. India won by five wickets in Jaipur, seven by Ranchi and 73 by Kolkata. Along with batting, Rohit also filled the matches with captaincy.

Three glittering wins

Team India were sweeping the T20 series against New Zealand under Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid. India won the third T20I match by 73 runs in Kolkata yesterday. Following on India’s 184, the Kiwis could only manage 111 runs. Score: India-184/7 (20), New Zealand-111 (17.2).

Rohit Sharma led India once again with 56 off 31 balls. Ishant Kishan, who replaced KL Rahul, scored 29 off 21 balls. After Shreyas Iyer (25 off 20 balls) and Venkatesh Iyer (20 off 15 balls), Herschelle Patel (18 off 11 balls) and Deepak Chahar (21 off 8 balls) put India ahead in the final overs. Mitchell Santner took three wickets each for Bolt, Milne, Ferguson and Sodhi.

In New Zealand’s reply, none other than opener Martin Guptill was able to hold his own. Guptill scored 51 off 36 balls. Mark Chapman and Glenn Phillips were out for zero, Tim Seifert was out for 17 and James Neesham was out for three. Akshar Patel took three wickets for just nine runs in three overs. Herschelle Patel, Yusvendra Chahal, Deepak Chahar and Venkitesh Iyer took two wickets each.
