The Army Club wrestlers in the freestyle and Romanian events have intensified their internal training camp currently being held in the capital, Baghdad, in preparation for participation in the Arab and World Military Championships scheduled to start at the beginning of next December and second.
Army Club coach Thabet Noman said in a statement to Al-Sabah newspaper, followed by the (INA), that “the team’s training has been continuing for four months with a daily unit according to the prepared internal curriculum, and the first period of preparation focused on improving the fitness level of the wrestlers, in addition to stimulating their muscle masses.” Especially after a period of stopping and relying on passive rest away from exercise.”
He added, “The second period of the intensive preparation program included repetition of technique training and the application of defensive movements, in addition to daily struggles to increase competition among them.”
He noted that “the goal of the Baghdad qualifying camp is to raise the rate of technical readiness, as it is hoped that it will be followed by another external gathering to be held in Iran during the next month before participating in the Arab Championship, which will be hosted by Algeria next December, and it will enjoy wide participation from the best advanced teams in this game.”
He expected that “the Army Club wrestlers will form a remarkable presence in the Arab League and that they will win many titles due to Iraq’s wide base in this game, in addition to its dominance in many Arab and continental championships since previous decades.”
