Investigation Launched Against Chief of Staff of Prime Minister’s Wife for Offensive Statements on Social Media
The Civil Service Commission has announced that an investigation will be opened against Zipporah Nabun, the Chief of Staff of Prime Minister Sara Netanyahu’s wife. This decision comes after a complaint was filed against Nabun for making offensive statements on her Facebook account. The complaint alleges that she targeted various parties, including protest bodies, media channels, media persons, the state attorney’s office, the “Left”, and the chairman of the opposition.
Nabun’s Facebook posts included derogatory terms such as “traitors”, “traitorous Jews”, “scum”, and “fifth brother”. Furthermore, she called for legal action against these individuals and organizations, accusing them of being responsible for the ongoing challenges faced by the State of Israel.
The Civil Service Commission has deemed these statements as serious and offensive, particularly for a state employee. It is especially concerning since Nabun holds a position within the Prime Minister’s Office, and even more so given her role as an employee at the Prime Minister’s residence. These divisive publications are deemed significantly more harmful, considering the current wartime situation in which unity is crucial to combat Israel’s civil enemy.
It should be noted that in September 2019, Nabun received a warning and clarification call from the Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office regarding her offensive Facebook posts. However, she failed to comprehend the expectations of a civil servant and continued to publish offensive content against various parties. This led to the opening of a disciplinary investigation in 2021, and subsequently, a lawsuit was filed against her in the disciplinary court.
The Civil Service Commission is expected to conduct a thorough investigation into these allegations against Nabun. The results of this investigation will determine the appropriate measures to be taken. Additionally, it highlights the importance of responsible social media usage, especially for those in positions of power and influence within the government.
