Iowa Women’s Basketball Dominates in Gulf Coast Showcase Win Over Purdue Fort Wayne

ESTERO, Fla. — The Iowa women’s basketball team’s dominance at the Gulf Coast Showcase was a show to remember. Iowa secured a 98-59 win over Purdue Fort Wayne, keeping the No. 6 ranked team on the bracket’s winners’ side.

The team’s stellar performance was aided by standout player Caitlin Clark, who finished with 29 points, eight assists, and three rebounds in just 23 minutes of play. Her impressive efficiency on the court was a highlight of the game, shooting 8-for-13 from the field and 6-for-9 from the three-point line.

Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder expressed her gratitude for the strong support from Iowa fans, who helped create a vibrant atmosphere at the tournament. Clark’s remarkable performance was fueled by her teammates, with Gabbie Marshall contributing with treys, becoming the first Iowa women’s basketball player with 200 career 3-pointers and 200 career steals.

The team’s success was momentarily marred by an injury to player Hannah Stuelke, but Bluder expressed confidence that the team would continue to dominate in the upcoming games.

“This is a good example of what the Big Ten Tournament is going to be like,” said team member Sharon Goodman. “So I think the whole team is using this tournament as a confidence boost for what we’ll see in the postseason.”

The Iowa women’s basketball team continues to impress, and their strong showing at the Gulf Coast Showcase has given fans and players alike high hopes for the upcoming postseason.
