Among the R2 success hands down for the Peugeot 208 Gti of Nucita
For the last round of the 2021 Italian Rally Championship on the Tuscan roads of Liburna, the winner was an unexpected name. Thanks to a vigorous performance seasoned by scratches in PS 2,3, 6 and 9 Alberto Battistolli on Skoda Fabia R5 took home the victory by 9 ”6 behind the twin car of Paolo Andreucci. Helped by the knockout during Umberto Scandola’s second special, unable to continue due to too much damage on his Hyundai i20 New Generation R5, the 56-year-old, who was the fastest on stages 5,7 and 8, triumphed in the Terra Trophy, adding thus yet another seal in a truly sensational showcase.
Bruno Bulacia Wilkinson in a Skoda Fabia EVO finished third with a gap of 23 “4 ahead of Simone Campedelli’s Fabia R5 at 1’12” 4 and the Hyundai i20 R5 of 2020 champion Andrea Crugnola at 1’17 “1.
Sixth Marco Signor in a Volkswagen Polo R5, then at 1’58 “3 the Fabia R5 of Emanuele Dati. At 2 ‘another Czech car, that of Jacopo Trevisani, followed by his colleagues from the brand Giuseppe Dettori, who reached 2’35 ”, Slowed down by problems with the engine and the brakes, and Andrea Sandrin, who reached the finish line 3’09 from the top, also struggling with the braking system.
