Iran supports the idea of a new energy network within BRICS“/>
Iran advocates the creation of a new network for transporting energy resources and products within the BRICS framework.
According to Day.Az, the President of Iran stated this Masud Pezeshkian at the summit of the heads of state of the BRICS member states, taking place today in Kazan.
According to him, the BRICS member countries are the largest producers of energy, food and other goods in the world and at the same time the largest consumers.
“Member states have access to international transit and cargo routes. This can lead to the solution of many issues (economic, banking, national currencies, etc.) in a simple way,” he said.
The Iranian President said that at the same time, his country intends to develop constructive cooperation within the framework of the North-South and East-West corridors.
It should be noted that BRICS is an intergovernmental organization created in 2006. Russia assumed the chairmanship of BRICS on January 1, 2024. Currently, members of the organization, in addition to Russia, are Brazil, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
