Tehran: The grandson of former Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Khomeini, leader of the Iranian Revolution, has threatened to attack Israel with full force. Hassan Khomeini said during an interview on an Iranian channel on Saturday that Israel will not retreat until force is used against it. Hassan Khomeini also addressed Iran’s suggestion of holding a referendum on the establishment of a Palestinian state, saying it would lead to the end of Israel. Hassan Khomeini claimed that ‘whoever gets the most votes’ in the referendum will win. This will ultimately lead to the destruction of Israel and they know it. The grandson of the former Supreme Leader criticized the two-state solution proposed by America, Britain and Israel. Hassan said it was merely a ploy to force the world to accept the legitimacy of the ‘Israeli occupation’.
Said friendship with Israel useless
Hassan Khomeini said, ‘It is wrong to think that if we leave Israel alone, that Israel will also leave us alone.’ He said that nothing will be achieved by talking to Israel and showing friendship. Instead, Iran will need to show its strength and military capability. The current global situation requires a strong approach to deal with Israel.
Iran’s attack on Israel
Iran fired 200 ballistic missiles at Israel last week. This attack was more deadly than the attack in April. In this attack many Iranian missiles had fallen in Israeli territory. Israeli airbase was also targeted in this attack. Iran had described it as an action taken in retaliation for the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon. Last Friday, the Supreme Leader of Iran gave an address from the Grand Mosque, in which he threatened to destroy Israel.
Hassan Nasrallah was killed by Israel in an airstrike in Dahiyah, south of Beirut, late last month. The Israeli airstrike targeted Hezbollah’s underground headquarters while Nasrallah was meeting with his senior commanders there. In the last few days, Israel has killed almost all the top leaders of Iran-backed Hezbollah.
