Tariffs for home Internet and other fixed-line services in Russia may increase by 10-15% in 2024, according to a survey of top managers of telecommunications companies by the TelcomDaily agency. transmit “News”.

As the agency’s general director Denis Kuskov told the publication, 82% of survey participants expect price increases, with more than 43% of them predicting an increase of 10–15%, and 13% predicting an increase of 16% or more. Another 18% of companies do not expect prices to change next year.

Operators cited rising costs as the main reasons for increasing prices, in particular the rising cost of equipment due to sanctions, the general deterioration of the economic situation, the departure of Western vendors, the shortage of qualified personnel, as well as difficulties with cross-border payments and logistics.

The press service of Rostelecom also drew attention to the increase in Internet traffic by 15% annually, which requires the development of communication networks and other infrastructure. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) and the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, in turn, pointed out the lack of data on the prerequisites for an increase in communication tariffs.

In August, the Ministry of Digital Development presented a draft Strategy for the Development of the Communications Industry of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2035. The document proposes to allow annual indexation of tariffs for services, including above inflation, if operators reinvest a significant part of additional profits in significant projects. Indexation of prices within the limits of inflation will be considered justified if this ensures stability and uninterrupted operation of the infrastructure.
