Mohali: Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja shone in bowling after scoring a century in the first innings against Sri Lanka (IND vs SL). India beat Sri Lanka by 174 runs with the help of Ravindra Jadeja’s five wicket haul. Visitors who had to follow up later were at 10 for one on the third day after lunch. Lahiru Thirimanne (0) faded. R Ashwin took the wicket. Sri Lanka are still 390 runs behind. Apart from Jadeja, Jaspreet Bumra and R Ashwin took two wickets each. Earlier, Jadeja scored an unbeaten 175 to lead India to a huge total. Rishabh’s 96 helped India reach the target on the first day. R Ashwin (61), Hanuma Vihari (58) and Virat Kohli (45) were the other notable contributors. Lasith Embuldenia took two wickets for Sri Lanka. Kohli, who played his 100th Test of his career, also crossed the 8000-run milestone.
Jadeja in bowling too
Jadeja dismissed Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne (28), Niroshan Dickwella (2), Suranga Lakmal (0), Vishwa Fernando (0) and Lahiru Kumara (0). The last five players did not even see a double. Nissanka remained unbeaten on 61 runs. Lahiru Thirimanne (17) and Dhananjaya D’Silva (1) were dismissed by Ashwin. Jaspreet Bumra took the wickets of Angelo Mathews (22) and Charith Asalanka (29). Mohammad Shami also contributed to the wicket by dismissing Lasith Embuldenia (0).
Jadeja’s century
It was Jadeja’s day in Mohili. He scored 228 balls. He had 17 fours and three sixes in his innings. Jadeja was involved in three centuries.
