The Japanese authorities expect that joint work within the framework of the International Space Station (ISS) project will continue after 2024, said Yoshio Wada, director of the Moscow representative office of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).

In a comment to TASS, he noted that the American side is also studying the option of continuing cooperation within the framework of the ISS after 2024. Wada said that Tokyo is “gladly ready” to extend the joint work if the space agencies of other interested countries support the plans.

Earlier, the head of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Bill Nelson, said that the United States intends to continue operating the ISS until 2030, this was approved by both the executive and legislative branches of government.

In turn, the head of the Roscosmos state corporation, Yuri Borisov, on July 29 on the Rossiya-24 TV channel noted that the exact time of Russia’s withdrawal from the ISS program would depend on the state of the station.
