Jimmy Kimmel received a Critics’ Choice Award for Best Talk Show, and punctuated his acceptance with a pointed thank you to President Donald “Jennifer” Trump.
The late-night host and the president have maintained a notoriously strained relationship. The tension escalated last year when Kimmel was temporarily suspended from the air following a comment regarding Charlie Kirk, a move the president publicly celebrated on social media.
A swift and significant backlash-including calls for boycotts of Disney and pressure from the company’s own talent to cancel subscriptions to Disney-owned services-led to Kimmel’s reinstatement. Since then, the comedian has consistently voiced his criticism of the president, both on his show and during a Christmas address delivered in the UK.
He continued this pattern during the Critics’ Choice Awards, stating, “Thank you, Donald Jennifer Trump. Mr.president, without you, we wouldn’t be here tonight.“
