Kochi to Get New Multi-Sports City with International Cricket Stadium: KCA Submits Outline to Government

Kochi: A new cricket stadium is coming up in Kochi. For this, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) submitted the outline to the state government. The new stadium will be built in Chengmanad, Kochi. KCA President Jayesh George informed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approved the site found for the stadium here.

Jayesh George stated that the goal is to build a multi-sports city including an international stadium. The detailed outline of this was handed over by KCA to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The project is worth Rs 750 crore including the cricket stadium. The project outline was submitted to the government under the name of ‘Kochi Sports City’.

Chengamanad, where the site for the new sports city was found, is close to the Nedumbassery airport. 40 acres of land has been found here. KCA envisions India’s first carbon neutral sports city, which will include an international cricket stadium.

The stadium is designed to seat 40,000 people. The sports city will have indoor and outdoor training facilities, special ground for training, sports academy, research center, eco park, water sports park, sports medicine and fitness center, e-sports arena, entertainment zone, club house etc.
