The festival dedicated to wine will be held in the Salento city on 30 and 31 October. There will also be guided tours, traveling exhibitions and conferences
If the great festivals in the province of Bari are forced to raise the white flag, Salento resists. The 2021 editions of Bacco delle Gnostre (Noci) and Novello sotto il Castello (Conversano) will not be held due to the impossibility of ensuring the distance between the participants. In Leverano, in the province of Lecce, on 30 and 31 October will be held “Novello in Festa”, the wine festival organized by the Pro Loco in collaboration with the Municipality of Leverano and local associations, and the support of Bcc Leverano and Gal Terra d’Arneo. the 23 edition of the review, the first after the 2020 stop due to a pandemic, and will take place in complete safety according to the health protocols in force. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for Saturday 30th at 7.30 pm in the central Piazza Fontana, and this is not a random date because at national level the day in which the first bottles of Novello wine are uncorked.
The Novello in Festa 2021 program
For wine, the Leverano cellars will obviously guarantee: Agricola dell’Arneo, Cantina Vecchia Torre, Tenuta Annibale and Conti Zecca. All this will be accompanied by itinerant musical performances, guided tours in the historic center and in the tower of Frederick II, conferences, performances by street artists, exhibitions and sensory itineraries, with the fundamental contribution of the premises of the old city. “We will focus everything on the activities of the historic center”, declared the president of the Pro Loco Leverano, “and as always there will be good food”. To avoid gatherings, a central stage will not be set up, but the artists – including the flag-wavers of Oria – will perform on an itinerant basis. The entrances to the historic center will be closed, and at each of these there will be employees to control the green passes. On Sunday 31st, in the Bcc Leverano conference room in Piazza Roma, a conference will be held to talk about the roots and perspectives of the wine sector in collaboration with the University of Salento.
The satisfaction of the mayor of Leverano
Marcello Rollo, mayor of Leverano, does not hide his satisfaction: “with pride that I underline how Leverano is one of the few municipalities in Puglia that have decided to hold events, despite the difficulties of the historical period. We are convinced that from the pandemic we must emerge stronger, in solidarity, albeit with all the necessary precautions ”.
