Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-1 to overtake Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table. Arne Slott’s side were put in front by Curtis Jones who won Mo Salah’s penalty to make it 1-0, but was also the one to score 2-1 to seal a hat-trick.
The game had a slow start with both teams trying to find a rhythm. Chelsea’s first chance of the game came in the 23rd minute when Madueke crossed the ball to Palmer, but Kelleher saved the England winger’s shot.
In the 28th minute of the game, Jones won a penalty from Colwill. Mo Salah did the execution, put the ball into the net and opened the scoring for Liverpool. Chelsea tried to level the game and threatened with Jackson’s shot from inside the area in the 30th minute, but it went wide.
The first half score was 1-0 with Liverpool having got the better of their opponents in the first half. In the second half, specifically in the 49th minute, Chelsea equalized with Jackson who put Kelleher right to make it 1-1.
Liverpool immediately took the lead again with Curtis Jones doing brilliantly to equalize and beat Sanchez to make it 2-1.
This was the winning goal for Arne Slott’s team, who kept the result until the end and are now alone first with 21 points in the Premier League after 8 games.
