At the end of a night meeting it was decided that all shops will be closed from 1 to 5 April, coinciding with the Easter holidays, and in those days the population will be invited to stay at home as much as possible. “We have not yet been able to defeat the virus, we must not give up,” Merkel said at the end of the meeting, admitting that the situation is “very serious”, with the number of coronavirus infections continuing to increase.


Meanwhile, Germany in the last 24 hours has recorded 250 deaths due to the coronavirus and 7,485 cases, bringing the number of deaths and infections respectively to 74,964 and 2,674,710. The Robert Koch Institute announced it, according to which in the last seven days an incidence of cases equal to 108.1 per 100 thousand inhabitants has been recorded.
