The UK High Court has allowed WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to again challenge the decision to extradite him to the United States. As Day.Az reports, Reuters reports this.

At the same time, the court gave the US government three weeks to provide guarantees that Assange’s rights in court will be respected and that he will not face the death penalty.

Prior to this, the lawyer for the founder of WikiLeaks said that the US Department of Justice was not going to make concessions and continued to insist on the extradition of Assange on all 18 charges, for which he faces up to 175 years in prison.

At the same time, The Wall Street Journal wrote that the American authorities offered to commute the sentence for pleading guilty to another, less serious crime.

Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, gained fame for publishing secret and confidential materials from governments of various countries, including the United States. Until 2019, he hid from persecution in the Ecuadorian embassy. In 2022, the UK Home Office decided to extradite the founder of Wikileaks to the United States, where he faces 175 years in prison.
