In an interview with Al Jazeera, Lula criticized the Israeli prime minister and the president of the United States

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) classified Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, as “extremist and far-right” and called the conflict in Gaza “genocide”.

The statement was made in an interview with Qatari television station Al Jazeera, and was aired this Friday (1).

“Look, I’m not saying anything, because, effectively, he is a very extremist, far-right person, with little human sensitivity to the problems of the Palestinians,” declared Lula.

“This is not a traditional war, but a genocide, which kills thousands of children and women through no fault of their own,” he added.

The Brazilian head of state also criticized the president of the United States, Joe Biden, and condemned the American decision to veto a resolution created by Brazil in the UN Security Council to adopt a ceasefire.

“I cannot understand how a man as important as President Biden, from the most important country on the planet, did not have the sensitivity to speak out to end this war. The United States could have stopped the war,” he stated.
