Tennis player Tomáš Macháč defeated Andrej Rubljov in the second round of the tournament in Miami and for the first time in his career won the scalp of a player from the top ten of the ranking. He defeated the current world number 6 6:4, 6:4 in the duel, which started in Florida with a delay of more than six hours due to persistent rain. The match lasted 65 minutes.

The 23-year-old Macháč, who is ranked 60th in the ATP rankings, won the opening set in 29 minutes in the first duel with Rubljov thanks to one successful break point. He also took the opponent’s serve in the third game of the second set and already defended the valuable win.

Rubljov thus had to put up with the defeat of the third Czech tennis player this season. At the previous tournament in Indian Wells, he finished in the third round on the racket of Jiří Lehečka, in February in Doha he was eliminated by Jakub Menšík.
