The Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Evangelos Tournas has been making a two-day visit to the Fire Services of the Region of Epirus since yesterday.
Already yesterday he visited the Administration of Fire Services of the Prefecture of Thesprotia, the Fire Brigade of Paramythia, the 5th Special Unit of Forestry Operations (E.MO.D.E.), the 5th Special Unit for Disaster Response (EMAK) and the 3rd Fire Station in VI.PE. Ioannina, while today there are scheduled visits to the Fire Service Commands of the Prefectures of Ioannina, Arta and Preveza.
Before today’s visits, a broad meeting will be held with all relevant agencies to prepare for the upcoming fire fighting season and coordination between the agencies involved.
The meeting will be attended on behalf of the Fire Brigade by the deputy chief, lieutenant general Nikolaos Roumeliotis, the general inspector of the Fire Services of Northern Greece, lieutenant general Evangelos Falaras, the coordinator of operations for Epirus, Western Macedonia and the Islands (Corfu-Lefkada-Paxos), lieutenant general Christoforos Bokas, the commander of the Regional Fire Administration of Epirus, chief fire chief Konstantinos Tsiopos, and the commanders of all Prefectures of the Region of Epirus, of the 5th E.M.A.K. and of the 5th EMODE, as well as the head of the Operational Center of the Region of Epirus.
From the side of the responsible bodies in the field of forest fire fighting, the regional coordinator of Epirus Civil Protection Dimitris Mavrioorgos, the commander of the 8th Infantry Brigade, Brigadier George Pappa, the General Regional Police Director of Epirus, Brigadier Vasilios Mouselimis, the director of 3rd Regional Command of the Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard, Captain Pavlos Tiftikidis, the Forestry Policy Implementation Inspector of Epirus – Western Macedonia Maria Tsiatoura and the Director of Coordination and Inspection of Forests of Epirus – Western Macedonia Maria Boukouvala.
