The Mass at St. Mary’s Basilica, Ernakulam, where the mass dispute took place, was abandoned. The decision was taken in the context of conflict. In the discussion called by the ADM, it was agreed between the two groups to temporarily suspend the rituals including the Pathira Mass. After there was a consensus on the conflict, the proposal was accepted that it is enough to perform rituals in the church.
The Basilica Administrator Father Anthony Poothavelil and the religious secretary of the dissident sect Father Kuriakos Mundan participated in the discussion. Yesterday at five o’clock in the evening, both the groups of the Syro-Malabar Church came inside the Ernakulam St. Mary’s Basilica Church and started conducting mass in a unified way. The tension in the church premises lasted for several hours. When the conflict escalated, the police expelled both groups and took control of the church.
