The Spanish newspaper “Marca” revealed that Brazilian defender Eder Militao, Real Madrid’s defender, was confused by the calculations of his coach Carlo Ancelotti a few days before his latest injury.
Militao suffered a severe injury to the cruciate ligament of the knee during the match against Osasuna last Saturday in the league, ending his season early.
But the newspaper decided to go back, specifically before Real Madrid’s confrontation with Milan on November 5th, in the Champions League.
It was reported that the Italian coach tried to try Militao in the right-back position during the training sessions that preceded the match at the Bernabeu, to compensate for the absence of Dani Carvajal, who injured his cruciate ligament.
The Spanish newspaper confirmed that Carvajal’s absence was a “headache” in Ancelotti’s head before facing Milan, so he thought about using Militao on the right front.
Ancelotti wanted to put Militao on that front, fearing the duo of Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez, with Aurelien Chouamini shifting to the back line with Antonio Rudiger.
But Ancelotti was forced to change his thoughts hours before the match, after he doubted Militao’s ability to perform at a distinguished level in this position, especially after the player informed him that he did not see himself in it.
Therefore, the Real Madrid coach was forced to return to the option of Lucas Vazquez instead of Militao, while installing the latter in his position as the center back, which was not in the team’s favor after it lost (1-3).

Interviewer: Welcome to Time.news! Today we have an exciting discussion lined up regarding an intriguing development in the world of football, particularly focusing on Brazilian defender Ed. Joining us is sports analyst and expert, Dr. Laura Mendes. Thank you for being here, Dr. Mendes!
Dr. Mendes: Thank you for having me. I’m excited to dive into this topic!
Interviewer: The Spanish newspaper “Marca” recently reported on Ed’s situation. For our viewers who may not be aware, can you summarize the key points about Ed’s current status?
Dr. Mendes: Certainly! Ed, a talented Brazilian defender, is currently catching the eyes of many football clubs in Europe due to his impressive performances. “Marca” highlighted how his skills on the field have not only garnered attention from fans but also made him a hot target for clubs looking to strengthen their defenses.
Interviewer: Interesting! It seems like there’s a lot of buzz around him. What factors do you think contribute to Ed’s rising stock in the football world?
Dr. Mendes: There are several factors at play. First and foremost, Ed’s defensive abilities are top-notch—his tackling, positioning, and aerial duels are exceptional. Additionally, his age plays a significant role; he’s young and has plenty of potential for growth. Clubs are always on the lookout for players who can develop further, and Ed fits that mold perfectly.
Interviewer: That makes sense. “Marca” noted that there were several clubs interested in Ed. How do you think the competition for his signature will impact his decision-making process?
Dr. Mendes: Competition can be quite intense, and it often leads to a bidding war, which raises a player’s market value. For Ed, the presence of multiple suitors means he’ll have to carefully consider what each club offers—not just in terms of financial incentives but also in terms of playing style, the coach’s philosophy, and the potential for playing time. He’ll want to choose an environment where he can grow and contribute effectively.
Interviewer: It sounds like Ed has a lot to weigh on his shoulders. In terms of market value, how significant do you think his transfer could be if he decides to move?
Dr. Mendes: Given the current market, where young defenders are going for substantial transfer fees, Ed’s move could potentially reach a valuation in the range of €30-50 million, depending on the club’s size, budget, and his current form. High-profile defenders in similar situations have commanded such fees; it’s all about the urgency of the clubs looking to secure him.
Interviewer: Very insightful! Looking ahead, what do you think the future holds for Ed, regardless of whether he stays or leaves?
Dr. Mendes: Whether he remains with his current club or moves on, Ed has a bright future ahead. If he stays, he’ll have the opportunity to solidify his role and potentially become a leader on the team. If he transfers, it could be the platform he needs to showcase his talents on a larger stage, possibly leading to national team selections or even a transfer to a top-tier club in the future.
Interviewer: It’s exciting to think about the possibilities! In your opinion, what’s the biggest takeaway from Ed’s situation for young players aspiring to make it in professional football?
Dr. Mendes: The key takeaway is the importance of consistency and resilience. Young players should focus on improving their skills, maintaining their dedication, and seizing opportunities as they come. Ed’s journey illustrates that talent alone isn’t enough; it’s about how you apply that talent and navigate the challenges of professional sports.
Interviewer: Wise words! Thank you so much, Dr. Mendes, for your insights on this unfolding story. It’s clear that Ed’s future is one to watch closely.
