Did the superhero save the people ?: ‘Lightning Murali’ – Screen Review
One day, lightning strikes Jayson (Tovino Thomas), who is struggling to get to America for work despite being in a small village, and Shibu (Guru Somasundaram), who is not respected in the county. Thus both get a ‘super power’. This is the story of ‘Lightning Murali’ which has been released on the ‘Netflix’ site and who is doing what with this.
Tovino Thomas, who carefully selects the story of his upcoming films, has taken a new initiative in this film and succeeded in it. Tovino in particular does one thing in the story as the character is not structured by the big hero image and does not appear to be influential on a large scale even after becoming a superhero.
Also, the film manages to entertain as well as inform, with much of the action taking place throughout the ’90s. The elegance of the screenplay and the beautiful cinematography are the great strengths of the film. In particular, the opening drama, Guru Somasundaram’s love scenes and the final fight scenes all come to mind with the quality cinematography of Samir S. Thakir.
Although the story is centered around the lightning rods Tovino Thomas and Guru Somasundaram, the other characters in the film are also memorable. Importantly, the performance of the boy Josmon (Vashisht Umesh) who comes across in the film is excellently visualized.
Some jokes are meant to make you laugh, while others are trying to do just that.
Tovino, who lives in the same town, is tired of not knowing who his father is, unnecessary love scenes, and in some places slowing down the screenplay. However, Guru Somasundaram’s exaggerated acting and body language in the depressing scenes are admirable.
Lightning Murali, the first Malayalam superhero film to be made under the direction of director Basil Joseph, is sure to be remembered in Indian cinema as superheroes are immediately remembered in films like Spider-Man and Batman.
