This initiative, organized in partnership with the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR), the “Addaraj” Foundation for social and charitable works under the Royal Motos Club and the Provincial Delegation of Health and Social Protection in Taounate, aims to improve care and health services for residents of this penitentiary establishment.
Organized under the slogan “Strengthening health provision is an essential pillar of reintegration”, this medical campaign included 3,613 examinations for all age groups, including minors, women and prisoners of African nationality, under the supervision of 25 doctors in several specialties, in addition to the establishment’s health staff.
The specialties of this action include dentistry, ophthalmology, cardiovascular medicine, dermatology, otolaryngology (ENT), urology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, internal medicine, gynecology and obstetrics, psychiatry, personal development, psychological support and general medicine.
In a statement to MAP, the regional coordinator of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Detainees (Support and Reintegration Center in Fez), Kamal El-Ouariti indicated that this initiative is part of the strategy integrated approach of the Foundation aimed at improving the living conditions of the prison population and bringing health services closer to prisoners, noting that 1,800 prisoners, including women and minors, have benefited from its services.
For his part, the director of the local prison of Aïn Aïcha in Taounate, Khalid Ezzine, affirmed that this medical campaign allowed prisoners to benefit from multidisciplinary medical examinations and to receive free medication.
