Karaikal: Nazim MLA has insisted that the government should take steps to honor the martyrs in Puducherry state ahead of the Independence Day Amuda festival.
His statement: At the time of celebration of 75th Independence Day of the country, additional pension should be announced for the martyrs of freedom struggle. They should be honored in the Independence Day Coral Festival. Martyrs have been honored when DMK was in power. Currently there is no such notification. Therefore Puducherry Government should announce this in the assembly session. Places including main road and beach should be named after important leaders. Soldiers are the defenders of the country. So they should be given rights, it says.
