Neeraj Chopra | Awareness raising on fitness among students; Neeraj Chopra and athletes go to schools

Athletes including Neeraj Chopra go to schools to educate students about the importance of a balanced diet and the importance of sports.

During the Azadi Ki Amrit Mahotsav celebrations on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the importance of the Olympic and Paralympic athletes interacting with school children. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier said that sportspersons should interact with school children and create awareness.

As part of a joint venture between the Ministry of Sports and Youth Welfare and the Ministry of Education, athletes, including Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, are coming to meet students at various schools across the country. The mission will begin on the 4th of this month with a visit by Neeraj Chopra to Sanskardham School in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Students from various schools in Gujarat will interact with Neeraj at the function.

Apart from Chopra, Tarundeep Rai (archery), Sarthak Bambri (athletics), Sushila Devi (judo), K Siga Ganapathi and Varun Thackeray (sailing) will visit various schools across the country for the next two months. Neeraj Chopra said he was happy and enthusiastic about the idea put forward by the Prime Minister.

“Athletes have a big role to play in helping children understand the importance of a balanced diet and nutrition, as well as the importance of physical activity in their daily lives and the need to follow a healthy lifestyle,” said Neeraj Chopra. Neeraj said he was looking forward to seeing the students of Sanskardham School.
