There is no dialogue with Mexico
Mexico broke relations with Ecuador after on April 5, the Ecuadorian authorities ordered the assault on the Embassy Mexican in Quito to arrest Jorge Glas, former vice president of Rafael Correa.
While Mexico accuses Ecuador of break the inviolability of its diplomatic headquarters, Ecuador maintains that Mexico transgressed international law by interfering in internal affairs and abusing diplomatic immunity, in addition to violating asylum rules.
The case centers on Glas, who currently has convictions for corruption and is in custody. Mexico demands his release and asylum to resume the diplomatic relations; Claudia Sheinbaum, president-elect, reiterated this as one of the conditions for rapprochement. Ecuador must also offer a public apology.
