Farmer Chelaturai, 69, of Kothakottai area, near Alangudi, Pudukottai district, married his daughter Sundarampal to Palani, a resident of Nampanpatti near Alangudi, 18 years ago. The couple had twins eight years ago.

After being childless for a long time, Chelathurai was happy to give birth to twins for her daughter. For seven years, she has been giving sugarcane bundles, bunches of turmeric, coconuts, flowers, fruits, sweet rice, and jaggery for Pongal.

In it, he has a habit of going to Nambanapatti village, 15 km away, carrying the seer row items on his bicycle and carrying sugarcane on his head, and giving seer row to his daughter.

Yesterday, daughter cycled home with Pongal seer items. At that time, he put a sugar cane on his head and rode a bicycle for 15 km without holding it with his hand.

Elder Chelathurai said:

My daughter Sundarapal was childless for more than ten years, so I was in agony. Eight years ago, my daughter gave birth to twins, so since the following year, I have been carrying Pongal Seer items on my bicycle every year, carrying sugarcane on my head. Even at this age, I am physically fit and keep cycling.

He said this happily.
