Omar Bar-Lev against Itamar Ben Gvir: “His appointment – a danger to democracy”

by time news

The outgoing Minister of Internal Security Omar Bar-Lev He spoke this morning (Sunday) with Anat Davidov and Gideon Oko on 103FM and commented that the chairman of Otzma Yehudit Itamar Ben Gabir He is expected to be replaced: “The title is nonsense. Ben Gvir specializes in creating titles.”

“I did not see him taking responsibility for companies in Judea and Samaria. I had no problem with my powers, throughout the entire period – from the flag parade in 2021 to the other events. A person who knows how to lead, also knows how to get along with the police commissioner, but Many get confused. Among them, also Ben Gvir,” he asserted.

No longer the pyromaniac: Ben Gvir will have to combine the role of the neighborhood brat with the responsible adult Ben Caspit

When asked if this was a danger to the State of Israel, he replied in the affirmative. “This is a danger to the internal security of the State of Israel and a danger to democracy. It is much more dangerous for other positions in other ministries.”

On the question of whether they would have an arranged overlap, he answered: “I don’t know what an arranged overlap is, I don’t think he will be interested in it. I don’t know what he will ask for and I don’t know what I will provide. Overlaps between ministers usually last for a short time. One thing I promise – I I will do my best for the internal security of the State of Israel, also in this matter. Only based on this, I will act.”

Later, he referred to the incident that happened over the weekend in which IDF soldiers attacked a number of left-wing activists who were visiting Palestinian families in the Judea and Samaria region. “These are difficult images that express the spirit of the times,” he claimed.

“A soldier attacks a protester who stands with his back to him and knocks him down in a very professional manner. Let’s not get confused, there have been incidents of right and left demonstrations in the past. What has changed is that Otzma Yehudit received 14 mandates. One of the soldiers said that Ben Gabir would make order,” he noted.

At the end, he referred to the results of the last elections for the Labor Party and clarified: “We expected a double-digit number, and we fell to 4 mandates. There is no doubt that this is Marev’s responsibility. It was thanks to her that we received 7 mandates, and it is her responsibility now, too, in the opposite situation. She will have to decide for herself How to realize this responsibility. I say this in a very simple and clear way – it is a failure, and failure is the responsibility of whoever is in charge.”
